╼ ABOUT

Greg Ducharme

Greg Ducharme can be seen oil painting in his studio in Mexico as well as filming wild Grizzlies north of the arctic circle in Canada’s far north. According to the artist he is most in his element on the street. You might run into him early morning or late at night if you happen to frequent Tokyo Japan or Hanoi Vietnam or bumming around the streets in a black hoodie in Oaxaca City Mexico. Greg has been capturing life as he sees it ever since he received a browning 120 film camera from his grandfather when he was 11 years old. Due to an unappreciation of his overly imaginative brain by the the rigid catholic school system. Greg dropped out school at a very young age. That did not stop him from using a camera as corrective lenses to his wildly unsorted mind. It was a chance meeting in Pangnirtung North West Territories of a Brazilian/ New York fashion photographer by the name of Otto Stupakoff. At the time he was working for a fashion spread for GQ magazine. The two connected and Otto invited Greg to come to New York City for a spell and see his operation. Ironically Otto spent most of his time dissuading Greg from Fashion and sharing his love of street photography in Brazil. That was all it took to reignite Greg’s love of the street.

Greg has captured life with many film formats including 8×10 view camera. The likes of Edward Weston and Minor White were a few of his influences growing up. In Greg’s own words he has spent 45 years of his life learning the craft of photography . The last ten years have been spent unlearning everything in order to be free to create art in Black and white without any restrictions.
